Cesar Romero was born in New York City in 1907. Immigrants from Cuba, his father was an importer-exporter and his mother a singer.
Romero began his career as a ballroom dance instructor before debuting on Broadway in 1929 at the age of 22.
His first film appearance was in 1933 for Trojan Pictures.
Romero enjoyed a long career as a character actor in more than 100 feature films. Although Warner Baxter originated the role of the "Cisco Kid" on film in In Old Arizona (1928) and reprised the role in 1939, Romero continued in the starring role in five "Cisco Kid" sequels released between 1939 and 1941. His last picture was released in 1998.
Romero was also a prolific television actor with roles in Passport to Danger (1956), The Red Skelton Hour (1956-1970), Batman (1966-1968) and Falcon Crest (1985-1988).
He died in Santa Monica, California, in 1994, at the age of 86.
