Biography

BIO

Eddie Quillan was born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1907.    His parents, Joseph and Sarah Quillan, were vaudeville performers and managed their four children in a vaudeville act that traveled the Orpheum Circuit in the 1910s and early 1920s.    Joseph Quillan later was the playwright for two Broadway musicals produced in the 1940s.    One brother was the actor John Quillan and a sister the actress Marie Quillan.

Quillan made his film debut in 1926, at the age of 19, in a comedy short-reel for Mack Sennett.    By 1930, Quillan was a young star with Pathé Exchange, but his career soon settled into supporting roles.

By the mid 1950s, Quillan was appearing primarily in guest roles on television.    With a film career spanning more than 85 features, His last film was released in 1978.

He died from cancer in Los Angeles, California, in 1990.    Quillan was 83 years old.
