Biography

BIO

John Hammond Dailey was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1877.

He made his Broadway debut in 1911, at the age of 34.   Dailey did not return to the Great White Way for more than a decade, but then appeared in 14 productions between 1923 and 1939.

It was on Broadway that Dailey originated the part of the talkative detective in the hit play Counsellor-at-Law (1931-1933) starring Paul Muni.

His only filmwork was a re-creation of that role in the 1933 movie version starring John Barrymore.
