Biography

BIO

Paula Trueman was born in New York City, in 1897.   She attended Hunter College before training in dance at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre.

Trueman made her Broadway debut in 1922 at the age of 25. She went on to appear in 42 productions through 1980, including You Can’t Take It With You (1936-1938).

She made her film debut, in 1934, in an uncredited role for Hecht-MacArthur Productions.   She appeared in another 15 movies through 1990.

Trueman married the architect Harold Sterner in 1936.   She was widowed in 1976.

She died in New York City, in 1994, at the age of 96.
