Biography

BIO

Sean Young was born Mary Sean Young in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1959, and was raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.   Her father was a journalist and television producer and her mother a public relations specialist.   After graduating from high school, Young attended the School of American Ballet in New York City.   Her sister is the television screenwriter Cathleen Young.

She began her career as a model and dancer before making her film debut in 1980, at the age of 21, for Merchant Ivory Productions.   She has appeared in more than 55 feature films.

Young married Robert Lujan in 1990 and the couple raised two children.   They were divorced in 2002, but re-united soon thereafter.   They remarried in 2011.
