Captains Courageous (1897)

Written while living in Brattleboro, Vermont in the mid 1890s, Captains Courageous, originally published in McCall's as a serial in 1896, was Kipling's second novel. His family doctor helped him with nautical terms and sailing details.

John Lee Mahin, a frequent collaborator with director Victor Fleming and screenwriter for such films as Treasure Island (1934), Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist Marc Connelly and Dale Van Every received an Academy Award nomination for Writing (Screenplay).
