Grand Hotel (1930)

Drake adapted the hit play from the German novel Menschen im Hotel (1929) by Vicki Baum.   It was the third and most successful German adaptation he wrote for the Broadway stage.

The film's success led to screenwriting work and he is credited with the screenplay for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939) among others during the 1930s.
