Biography

BIO

Aurore Clément was born Marie-Thérèse Aurore Louise Clément in Soissons, France, in 1945.   Her father worked at a distillery.   After his death, she left school, at the age of 17, and began working in the same distillery to help support the family.   After 3 years, she left for Paris and soon became a top model, appearing on the covers of Vogue, Elle, and other fashion magazines.

The film director Louis Malle noticed her on an Elle cover and cast her in a lead role for Lacombe, Lucien (1974), at the age of 29.

She has appeared in more than 70 films to date.

Clément made her French stage debut in 1987 and has received several awards, including a Molière Award for for Best Supporting Actress in  La Dame aux camélias in 2001.

She was also awarded a Knighthood of the Legion of Honor in 2010.

Clément married movie production designer Dean Tavoularis, whom she met on the set of Apocalypse Now, in 1986.
