Biography

BIO

Bruce Lester was born Bruce Somerset Lister in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1912.    He attended Brighton College in Brighton, East Sussex, England.

He made his West End stage debut in 1933 at the age of 21.

Lester soon committed to a film career and made his British screen debut in 1934 for British & Dominion Films and appeared in more than 15 British features before decamping to Hollywood in 1938.

Except for a stint in the British Army during World War II, Lester appeared in more than 60 feature films during a 25 year career. His last feature was released in 1957.

He died in Los Angeles, in 2008, at the age of 96.
