Biography

BIO

Clarence Brooks was born Clarence A. Brooks in San Antonio, Texas, in 1896.

He made his film debut in a silent short-reel for Lincoln Motion Pictures, in 1916, at the age of 20.   He continued to appear in lead roles for Lincoln through 1921.

Brooks starred in his first sound picture in 1930 for Arista Films.   He continued to appear in starring roles through 1935 after which he moved to supporting roles.

He appeared in 20 feature films through 1951.

Brooks was married to Cherry Hale until his death, at the age of 72, in 1969.
