Biography

BIO

Elizabeth Inglis was born Desiree Mary Lucy Hawkins in Colchester, Essex, England, in 1913.

She made her West End stage debut in 1934 at the age of 21. She also appeared that year in her first British feature film for Arthur Maude Productions.

With the outbreak of hostilities between England and Germany at the beginning of World War II, Inglis headed for the U.S., making her Broadway debut in 1939 before moving on to Hollywood.

She appeared in 9 feature films during a career that ended in 1945, shortly after her marriage.

Inglis married Sylvester “Pat” Weaver who would later become president of NBC.   They raised two children, one of whom became the actress Sigourney Weaver.   Her husband passed away in 2002.

Inglis died in Santa Barbara, California, in 2007, at the age of 94.
