Biography

BIO

Frieda Inescort was born Frieda Wrightman in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1901.   Her mother was the British actress Elaine Inescourt.

Inescort made her Broadway debut in 1922, at the age of 21, and went on to appear in 25 Broadway productions over the next quarter century.

Her first film role was for Samuel Goldwyn Productions at the age of 34.   Inescort went on to appear in over 30 motion pictures even though she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1932.   Her last film role was in 1962.

Inescort married the writer Ben Ray Redman in 1926.   He committed suicide with sleeping pills in 1962.   Even though she found him still alive, he convinced her it was too late to save him.

She died from multiple sclerosis in Los Angeles, in 1976.   Inescort was 74 years old.
