Biography

BIO

John Savage was born John Youngs in Old Bethpage, New York, in 1949.   His father was an insurance salesman.   One sister is the Boston-based radio host Robin Young.   His younger sister is the actress Gail Youngs (1954- ) and his younger brother is the actor Jim Youngs (1956- ).

Savage studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.   He made his feature film debut in 1969, at the age of 20, for Cinex Film and has appeared in more than 120 feature films to date.

He married Susan in 1967, at the age of 18, and the couple had two children before divorcing in 1969.   One child is the actress Jennifer Youngs (1968- ).

Savage married the actress Sandi Schultz (1964- ) in 1993.
