Biography

BIO

John Wray was born John Griffith Malloy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1887.

A stage actor, he made his Broadway debut in 1913, at the age of 26.   He appeared in 13 Broadway productions through 1935, 2 for which he was also the playwright.

With the advent of sound, Wray made his film debut in 1929, at the age of 42, for Joseph M. Schenck Productions.   He went on to appear in more than 80 feature films.

Wray's last film was released in 1940.

He was married to Florence Miller and the couple raised one child.

Wray died in Los Angeles in 1940. He was 53 years old.
