Biography

BIO

Russell Hopton was born in New York City, in 1900.

He made his silent film debut in 1926, at the age of 26, for John McCormick Productions.   He did not return to the medium until after the introduction of sound in 1930.

Hopton appeared in more than 105 feature films as a supporting actor, but had many uncredited roles toward the end of his almost 20 year career.   His last film was released in 1945.

Hopton also directed two movies for Conn Pictures in 1936.

He committed suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills in Los Angeles, in 1945.   Hopton was 45 years old.
