Biography

BIO

Sam Livesey was born Samuel Livesey in the County of Flintshire, Wales, United Kingdom, in 1873.   His father was an actor.

Livesey began his acting career in regional theatre and summer stock before coming to London’s West End in 1917 at the age of 44.   He continued to perform on the English stage through 1935.

He also was one of the original cast members in the Broadway version of the hit play Bulldog Drummond (1921-1922).

Livesey made his silent film debut in 1916 for British Actors and appeared in more than 45 feature films through 1937.

He married Mary C. Edwards and the couple raised three actor sons: Jack Livesey (1901-1961), Barry Livesey (c1904-1959) and Roger Livesey (1906-1976).

Livesey died in London, England, in 1936, after surgery.   He was 63 years old.
