Biography

BIO

John Marriott was born in Boley, Oklahoma, in 1893.   He graduated from Wilberforce University in Ohio.

A stage actor, he spent more than a decade at the Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio.

Marriott made his Broadway debut in 1934 at the age of 41.   He appeared in 21 productions through 1976.

He made his film debut in The Little Foxes (1941) reprising the role he originated on the New York stage in 1939.

Although Marriott appeared in another 8 features through 1975, he spent most of his time on the Broadway stage.

He died in New York City, in 1977, at the age of 84.
